Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Learning and Character Education (JLCEdu) will be screened using the Turnitin similarity detection tool. JLCEdu will immediately reject papers leading to plagiarism or self-plagiarism with a overall similarity index exceeding 20% or showing major text overlaps.
JLCEdu aims to ensure that all authors exercise rigorous care and comply fully with international standards for academic integrity, particularly regarding the prevention of plagiarism and self-plagiarism.
Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without proper credit or attribution. Even when it occurs unintentionally, plagiarism remains a serious academic violation and is strictly unacceptable in international academic publishing.
Academic Integrity Guidelines
- Citation of Specific Information: When an author learns specific information (e.g., a name, date, location, statistical figure, or detailed data) from a specific source, an appropriate citation is required. (This is only exempt in cases of general knowledge, where the data is common knowledge or readily available in multiple basic reference sources).
- Citation of Ideas: When an author takes an idea, theoretical model, or conceptual framework from another author, a citation is required even if the author subsequently develops the idea further. This includes methodologies, interpretation of findings, or broad developments in the field. When expanding upon an existing idea, the original source must be cited first, followed by the author's further explanations or developments.
- Direct Text Quotation: When an author uses exact words from another author, both proper citation and quotation marks are required. Whenever four or more consecutive words are identical to a published source, the author must use quotation marks and a direct citation to denote the original text.
JLCEdu takes academic integrity very seriously. The Editors and Editorial Board reserve the right to reject submissions during screening or withdraw acceptance from any paper found to violate the integrity standards set out above.
