EMPOWERING MOSQUES TO BUILD THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE PEOPLE OF BANDAR LAMPUNG CITY
Mosques have a central role in the history of Islamic civilization. Mosques are not only used as places of worship, but are also used as centers of Muslim activity in various fields. Empowering mosques means building Islamic civilization, by carrying out the function of mosques in improving the quality of life of the community. The large number of Muslims is of course directly proportional to the number of places of worship they have (mosques). But in reality, we find many mosques that are empty of worshipers, so it is not directly proportional to improving the quality of Islamic society. This research aims to analyze mosque empowerment activities in an effort to build the quality of life of the people of Bandar Lampung city. This research uses a qualitative research approach, with a case study type of research. The research instruments used were interviews, field notes and documentation. The informants in this research consisted of mosque administrators, mother’s study administrators, Islamic youth mosque administrators, teachers and guardians of students at the Al-Qur'an Educational Park (TPA). The research locations were at the Al-Mukhlisin Mosque, Al-Huda Mosque and Al-Mu'min Jami Mosque, Bandar Lampung City. This research sees that mosques have a very strategic role in developing society, both in the field of religious spirituality, increasing knowledge, and social activities. In order to realize this important role, mosques must be empowered or function optimally.
